buffalo lodge epitomises some of the best that New Zealand has to offer. It's nestled in a lush five-acre bush setting on a hillside with a stunning view of the islands of the Hauraki Gulf.

 

Situated two and a half kilometres north of Coromandel town, this modern, architect-designed pole house not only provides quality accommodation, it is also an art gallery, exhibiting paintings by owner Evelyne Siegrist-Huang.

A country retreat that has lifted the standard for homestays (it won the New Zealand tourism Award for Best Homestay in 1996), buffalo lodge provides a friendly, intimate and soothing atmosphere that enables you to feel immediately relaxed and at home.

The lodge offers a tranquil sanctuary where you can observe native birdlife, and admire the beautiful native bush, sea views and magical sunsets. The lodge has four bedrooms, three of which have their own sun deck. Each has its own ensuite.
